Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber have split after three years of dating.
Multiple outlets including People and TMZ reported the news on Tuesday, January 7. TMZ reported that they called it quits at the end of 2024 and Butler was absent from Gerber’s recent family vacation.
The Elvis actor, 33, was first linked to Gerber, 23, in December 2021 after they were seen attending a yoga class together. Us Weekly confirmed at the time they were “low-key dating” after their respective splits from Vanessa Hudgens and Jacob Elordi.
Two months later, Butler and Gerber were photographed in Paris on Valentine’s Day, cuddled up under an umbrella in the rain.

It wasn’t until the 2022 Met Gala that May that the pair stepped out for their first red carpet as a couple — where they celebrated the Gilded Age theme in style. Gerber wore a metallic Alexander McQueen gown while her then-boyfriend donned a black Prada suit.
Butler and Gerber continued to grow close throughout 2022 and the Dune 2 actor even joined his girlfriend’s family for a new-New Year’s getaway to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, that December.
The following year, the duo became more visible with their romance. Gerber joined Butler in January 2023 for several Golden Globes afterparties after he took home the trophy for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama.
Gerber opted to skip the Academy Awards in March 2023, but she reunited with Butler that evening to attend the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Los Angeles. The following month, the twosome later posed on the Time100 Gala red carpet in New York City.

As the year came to an end, a source exclusively told Us that Butler and Gerber were going strong.
“Although Austin and Kaia are both in the public eye, they’re really down to earth and have a very secure relationship,” the insider said in September 2023, noting that the “time has flown by” since they first hooked up.
The source added that Kaia’s parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, approved of the relationship. “Kaia loves that her family gets along so well with Austin,” the insider claimed. “He’s joined them on several vacations and he’s definitely a part of the family.”
