‘Half-Life’ Voice Actor Michael Shapiro Posts Cryptic Video, Fuelling ‘Half-Life 3’ Speculation

Coming off the heels of Half-Life 2‘s 20th anniversary last year, there was a rumour floating around leading up to The Game Awards that Valve was going to announce Half-Life 3. That obviously never happened, but as always, that doesn’t stop the rumour mill for a third entry. Case in point: Michael Shapiro, the voice actor behind the series’ mysterious G-Man recently took to X and issued a cryptic post that has gotten fans speculating all over again.

Shapiro posted a video narrated by him marking the end of 2024, which quickly turned mysterious as he flipped between his regular voice and G-Man’s stilted cadence, saying that the next quarter century may yield “unexpected surprises.” To add even more intrigue, Shapiro included the tags #Valve, #Halflife, #GMan, and #2025 in the post’s text.

If that wasn’t enough, as pointed out by IGN, this is the first time in over four years that Shapiro has posted. The last time was celebrating Half-Life: Alyx‘s win at The Game Awards 2020 (in G-Man mode, no less). Not to mention that the documentary that was released to coincide with Half-Life 2‘s anniversary also revealed details of a Half-Life 3 project that never came to be, including early gameplay footage.

The long-running memes related to Half-Life 3 may just be put to rest later this year, if these rumours turn out to be the real deal.
