Fresh off a Golden Globes nomination for Hugh Grant, A24’s new horror movie Heretic from directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods has made its debut on at-home Digital today.
You can rent the film for $19.99 or purchase it for $24.99.
Hugh Grant (D&D: Honor Among Thieves), Chloe East (The Fabelmans) and Sophie Thatcher (“Yellowjackets”) lead the cast of the upcoming horror movie. In the film…
“Two missionaries are forced to prove their faith when they knock on the wrong door and are greeted by a diabolical Mr. Reed, becoming ensnared in his deadly game of cat-and-mouse.”
Meagan Navarro wrote in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “Heretic is a movie that’s ultimately carried on the back of its villain, and Grant’s daffy, amused portrayal of Mr. Reed might be enough to make you a convert.” She also notes, “the smart casting, powerhouse performances, and an infectious sense of humor ensure that it remains engaging.”
The latest SCREAMBOX Exclusive is the Argentinian exorcism horror movie Deus Irae, and it’s now streaming only on SCREAMBOX as well as available for rental on major VOD outlets.
Deus Irae is the debut feature of Argentine filmmaker Pedro Cristiani.
The film follows Father Javier, a priest living a fractured existence. On one side, he assists families who claim to have witnessed miracles, and on the other he belongs to a trio of excommunicated priests who hunt the possessed to exorcize them with fire and shotguns.
But when the only way to crush Evil is by becoming something even worse, he must question how much of his own humanity he’s willing to sacrifice in order to defeat the Devil.
French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (Inside, Leatherface, The Deep House) are back with The Soul Eater, and it’s available on VOD from Dark Sky Films today.
The new horror movie is an adaptation of the novel by Alexis Laipsker.
In The Soul Eater, “The chilling drama unfolds against the backdrop of a mountain village where an old legend about a malevolent creature resurfaces following the disappearance of local children and a series of violent and gruesome deaths.”
Virginie Ledoyen (Rabid Dogs, The Beach), Paul Hamy (Get In), and Sandrine Bonnaire star. The directors reteam with Kandisha cinematographer Simon Roca for their latest.
Fans of Lovecraftian horror may want to check out Mark Andrew Hamer’s Replicator, a practical effects-heavy homage to Stuart Gordon classics that’s now available on VOD.
Replicator won two Nightmare awards at the Nightmares Film Festival, including Best Supporting Performance for Brian Spangler and the “Gag Reel | FX” festival award for David Henson Greathouse for his practical special FX makeup and creature design work.
In the film, “Scarred by a troubled past, small-town public defender Darby Vincent is in constant pursuit of justice in a town littered with morally and ethically challenged individuals. When the town’s more nefarious citizens begin one-by-one to make 180 degree turns to righteousness, seemingly overnight, Darby embarks on a journey that reveals violent otherworldly forces may be responsible. And the way to virtue is a bloody and terrifying road.”
Brey Noelle and Katelynn E. Newberry star.
Tom Hardy is back as Venom in Sony’s third franchise installment Venom: The Last Dance, released at home today. You can rent the film for $19.99 or purchase it for $24.99.
In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. That’s the plan for now, at least…
“Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on their last dance.”
Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham also star. The film is directed by Kelly Marcel from a screenplay she wrote.
Based on a story by Tom Hardy and Kelly Marcel, the upcoming third Venom film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy and Hutch Parker.
