SNL Impersonates Dylan, Springsteen, and Bono

Timothée Chalamet may end up earning an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, but James Austin Johnson’s impersonation of present day Dylan is pretty damn phenomenal. Johnson already managed to get the character in Saturday Night Live once this season, albeit in an absurdly funny promo for a John Mulaney-hosted episode. However, in this week’s episode, hosted by Paul Mescal, Johnson’s Dylan popped up in an actual skit.

The setting was the red carpet for A Compete Unknown, and, along with Johnson, the sketch featured Chloe Fineman as Chalamet, Andrew Dismukes as Bruce Springsteen, and Mescal as Bono (who turned in a pretty great impersonation himself). Not all the jokes landed, but I am a mark for a good Gilmore Girls joke.

Last night’s episode of SNL also featured sketches in which Mescal dressed up in a DEVO outfit and show off his Spotify Wrapped. Plus, they reimagined Gladiator II as a musical, and Dana Carvey revived Church Lady. Watch them all below.
