5 Albums I Can’t Live Without: Jim Lindberg of Pennywise

Name  Jim Lindberg. (Different spelling than Charles and not as fascist-leaning.)

Best known for  Pennywise singer / questionable goatee choices.

Current city  Manhattan Beach, CA born. Grew up in Hermosa Beach, will die in Palm Springs.

Really want to be in  Bryon Bay, Australia after sharks go extinct.

Excited about: New Black Pacific album, five years of Pennywise farewell tours like Elton John and NOFX.

My current music collection has a lot of  Black Flag, Phoebe Bridgers, and Taylor Swift (three daughters).

And a little bit of  Chill jazz like Chet Baker to drown out tinnitus. Thanks, Fletcher!

Preferred format  Vinyl is what I love, CDs are what I have most of, streaming first 20 seconds of any given song like everyone else does is what I do.

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without:

1

Wild Gift, X

“Let’s not talk about bombs or the brain impulses of severed limbs….” is the best lyric ever written.

2

Endless Summer, The Beach Boys

On second thought, scratch that. “I wish they all could be California Girls” is the best lyric ever written.

3

London Calling, The Clash

Actually, scratch that scratch: “And every gimmick hungry yob digging gold from rock and roll / grabs the mic to tell us he’ll die before he’s sold.” Now that’s the best lyric ever!

4

Look Sharp!, Joe Jackson

Okay last time, promise. “Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street / From my window I’m staring while my coffee goes cold.” That’s it. Final Answer.

5

Generation X, Generation X

I lied. “And Jimmy’s number One Hundred and one, knows one day, he’ll be one. Watch him, watch him go!”  Yeah let’s go with that. Or maybe it’s X. Sorry.
