Garth Brooks Names Sexual Assault Accuser in New Lawsuit

Garth Brooks has publicly identified the name of the Jane Roe who filed a sexual assault lawsuit against him last week in a new legal filing of his own, according to a Billboard report.

The reveal came in an updated version of a preemptive lawsuit Brooks filed in Mississippi federal court last month to block the allegations from going public. The country star refiled the case yesterday (October 8th) and listed the woman’s real name while reiterating his previous claims of extortion and defamation.

In response, the accuser’s attorney Douglas H. Wigdor moved to reseal her name and seek legal penalties. The media has also been asked not to disclose the accuser’s name

“Garth Brooks just revealed his true self,” Wigdor wrote. “Out of spite and to punish, he publicly named a rape victim. With no legal justification, Brooks outed her because he thinks the laws don’t apply to him. On behalf of our client, we will be moving for maximum sanctions against him immediately.”

The lawsuit was filed by the former hairstylist and makeup artist for Brooks last Thursday (October 3rd), alleging multiple incidents of rape and other misconduct, including exposing his genitals and buttocks, groping her breasts, and sending sexually explicit text messages.

Brooks vehemently denied the allegations, describing the lawsuit as “extortion and defamation of character.” He added, “I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
