Bachelorette contestant Sam M. tried to use a smooth line on Jenn Tran but she called him out for taking it from a movie. One fan of the franchise recognized the scripted line. What movie did her suitor quote?
Bachelorette Strip Show Gets Heated
Hours before the July 22nd episode of The Bachelorette, ABC issued a trigger warning to viewers: things were about to get steamy down under. Jenn Tran and her men were in Australia. One date took a select number of suitors to the Thunder Down Under revue. They had a chance to learn some moves from the professional male strippers before taking the stage themselves in a competition to impress Jenn.
Sam Nejad shocked everyone by using his time on stage to declare his love for Jenn, despite only knowing her for a short amount of time. Devin Strader later told Sam N. that he shouldn’t be embarrassed about speaking his feelings aloud.
However, Devin then got into it with Sam McKinney, who was snickering at the other Sam. Devin called Sam M. out for saying he wants mutual respect but doesn’t show respect to others. Sam M. retorted that doesn’t respect Devin and they’ll never be friends.
Sam M. later had a moment alone with Jenn Tran and discussed his own feelings with her. According to Us Weekly, she denied ‘flustering’ him and he replied, “No, you just bother me.”
Jenn asked what movie he got the line from but they started kissing before he could answer. “I wouldn’t be doing this if you didn’t bother me,” Sam M. added.
Fan Unearths Sam M.’s Obscure Movie Reference
It turns out that Jenn Tran was right to clock Sam M.’s smooth line as taken from a movie script. One fan recognized the line and sent the intel to the @bachelornation.scoop Instagram account, which was then reported by Us Weekly.
The brash line came from an obscure 2016 movie called The Choice. It stars Benjamin Walker as Travis and Teresa Palmer as Gabby. The two characters share a kiss in the film and Gabby asks Travis why he kissed her. “Because you bother me.”
Very original, Sam M.!
