Geezer Butler Joins Foo Fighters to Play “Paranoid”: Watch

Foo Fighters have wrapped up the UK dates of their ongoing tour (get tickets) with a final show in Birmingham, and to help close out the run, the band was joined by Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler for a rendition of “Paranoid.”

Delivering the song’s driving bassline with a thundering sound, Butler held down the bottom end as Dave Grohl ditched his guitar and took a stab at some Ozzy Osbourne frontman moves. In various clips, fans from all sections of the Villa Park stadium can be seen joyfully singing along. Watch the videos below.

This is the second time in recent years Butler has performed with Foo Fighters, following his participation in the tribute concert for their late drummer, Taylor Hawkins. It’s also his latest public appearance since retiring in 2023.

At the time of his retirement, Butler ruled out a Black Sabbath reunion, but as of this past May, he’s seemingly changed his tune and made an agreement with Osbourne to play one final show (though no additional details are available at this time).

As for Foo Fighters, they’ll be returning stateside later this summer for more tour dates, including a set at Soundside Festival and headlining shows. Grab tickets here.
