Victoria Beckham on Collaborating With Breitling: “I Design What I Want to Wear”

Victoria Beckham is adding yet another accolade to her profile: watch designer. After decades of being photographed wearing her own extensive watch collection, the timepiece aficionado has partnered with Breitling for the launch of a limited edition six-style Chronomat 36. “Beautiful, luxurious watches are part of my look,” Beckham recently told Vanity Fair, “and what I like to wear.”

Beckham, whose 1998 engagement photos with now husband David Beckham famously featured their matching Rolex Yacht-Masters, has incorporated her preference for a bracelet watch strap for her collaboration. “I design what I want to wear and desire,” she said. “I [would] wear it loose around my wrist,” she continued, “I like the weight of the watch. You want it to feel heavy enough that you’re wearing a luxurious product.”

Never one to scrimp on the finer details, Beckham’s collection is a limited run of 1,500 pieces—harkening back to the 15-year anniversary of the designer’s fashion brand. Dials for the collaboration mirror the colors used in her Spring-Summer 2024 collection like sand, mint, and dove gray. “It’s not overcomplicated or too branded,” she said, “it’s minimalist…it just looks easy and elegant.”

Victoria and David are long-standing sartorial fixtures, and their unforgettable looks have made headlines for decades. “It’s funny because the ‘90s have made such a comeback fashionwise, the kids are asking for some of our pieces from then,” she said. “A few years ago, we did sell a lot of our wardrobes for charity, but the kids cannot believe what we sold!” Except, of course, the couple’s watches, which Victoria is “absolutely keeping.” “Not just for the kids, but for me as well,” she said.

Beckham has long been able to make a sporty Rolex or Patek Philippe work with almost any outfit and spent years integrating her blinged-out Jacob & Co timepieces into her looks. It makes sense, then, that she finds herself involved with a watch brand. (David, too, is the longtime face of Tudor, sister brand to Rolex). For those who have long emulated and admired Victoria’s approach to style, she has created pieces that look like something she would wear. The six models—three in steel and three in yellow gold—are available for purchase as of February 1.
