Godzilla Stomps Into ‘Minecraft’ With New DLC

The day’s finally arrived for Alan Wake to enter The Fog and join Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight. Alan Wake joins the asymmetrical multiplayer title as the latest Survivor as part of Tome 18: Revision.

You know the story by now: best-selling author Alan Wake has a case of writer’s block. A trip to Bright Falls was supposed to clear his mind, but instead set off a nightmarish chain of events that led to his disappearance and imprisonment in the mysterious Dark Place. This time, while fighting to write his way to freedom and escape the Dark Place, he remembered a script he wrote for Night Springs about a horrifying place shrouded in fog. Those memories soon shaped reality as he was swallowed up into The Entity’s Ream and the world of Dead by Daylight, trading one Dark Place for another.

“We’re thrilled for Alan Wake to finally be coming to The Fog as a Survivor,” says Mathieu Coté, Head of Partnerships at Behaviour Interactive. “It has always been clear to us that Alan was a natural fit for the Dead by Daylight universe. Both of our games draw from mutual inspiration and are celebrations of the horror icons that came before them. We’re excited to see how players react to his new nightmare—it seems like Alan can’t catch a break.”

Luckily for Alan, he’s got a few tricks up his sleeve to help him survive. As was previously detailed, Alan has access to three unique Perks: Champion of Light, Boon: Illumination, and Deadline. Champion of Light grants players additional movement speed while shining a Flashlight, while Boon: Illumination allows Alan to create a Boon Totem, which grants all nearby Survivors the ability to see the Auras of Generators and Chests across the Map. Lastly, Deadline, which activates when you’re injured, increases the frequency of Skill Checks while Healing Survivors or Repairing Generators.

Tome 18 also brings with it new memories for Alan Wake, The Deathslinger, and the House of Arkham. Progressing through the Rift and completing brand-new gameplay Challenges unlocks Charms, Outfits and more for several characters, including Alan Wake Player Card customization options and the Alan’s Darker Side Outfit on the Premium Pass.

Speaking of outfits, the new DLC has several of them. The Alan Wake Classic (Very Rare) Outfit features Alan with a short hairstyle, a battered head, and a blazer-hoodie combo. This calls back to the very first Alan Wake game. The Bright Falls (Very Rare) Outfit offers a more relaxed look for Alan, fitting him in a checkered shirt and casual blue jeans.

Lastly, there are two fan-favorite characters from the Alan Wake series that are joining him in The Fog as Legendary Outfits. Saga Anderson (Legendary) and Rose Marigold (Legendary) Outfits are available as the talented FBI agent and the Oh Deer Diner waitress respectively. The Alan Wake Classic and Saga Anderson Outfits are available today, where as The Bright Falls and Rose Marigold Outfits will be available on February 6.

If all of that’s not enough, Behaviour Interactive has a little something for fans next month with a time-limited event called Lights Out. Modifiers are brand new adjustments to the existing Trial format that offer players a unique and exciting experience. In this case, the event (which arrives February 7) comes with a new modifier called Lights Out, which envelopes the map in darkness. No Loadout. No Terror Radius. No Scratch Marks.

The Lights Out Modifier will be available from February 7 at 8:00a.m PST / 11:00a.m. EST until February 14 at 8:00a.m PST / 11:00a.m. EST.

Tome 18 for Dead by Daylight is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Windows Store.
