Meghan Markle made a surprise solo return to the red carpet Thursday night at Variety’s Power of Women event. Wearing a tan dress from Proenza Schouler, Aquazzura heels, and jewelry from Mejuri, the duchess addressed what’s to come for her production company Archewell — which has already released the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan and Finding Invictus—and hinted that she and husband Prince Harry have a few upcoming projects in response to a question about the type of programming she wants to make.
“Things that make people feel…I was going to say ‘good,’ but it’s more than that, things that make people feel something, right?” she told Variety reporter Angelique Jackson during a red carpet interview. “And feel a sense of community. But we have so many exciting things on the slate. I can’t wait until we can announce them, but I’m just really proud of what we’re creating. My husband is loving it, too. It’s really fun.”
Meghan added that she was happy to be present with the night’s other guests. “This industry is just so special and you see how many women use the platform that they have and just channel it for good,” she said. “I think the more we support each other, it amplifies the work, amplifies the community, and I’m thrilled to be back in it and to be able to sit in this room and focus on the crossroads of entertainment and philanthropy.”

The event in Los Angeles honored this year’s list of recipients of Variety’s award for artists and actors who empower women, which included Billie Eilish, Fantasia Barrino, Lily Gladstone, and Carey Mulligan. Margot Robbie and the co-founders of her LuckyChap production company Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara were also given the Producer of the Year. Though Meghan was chosen as one of the trade publication’s 2022 Women of the Year, which included a cover story tied to her Archewell podcast, she was unable to attend last year’s ceremony.
