‘Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire’ – Watch the Epic New Trailer for Zack Snyder’s Original Sci-fi Movie

Zack Snyder‘s sci-fi movie Rebel Moon will be premiering exclusively on Netflix on December 22, the first film in an epic saga that’s set to span at least two features.

Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire hits Netflix on December 22, 2023, while Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver will continue the saga on April 19, 2024.

Watch the full official trailer for Rebel Moon below, which looks every bit the “epic sci-fi fantasy” we were promised. The story was originally a Star Wars pitch, it’s interesting to note, and that influence is felt throughout the trailer. Think of it as Zack Snyder’s Star Wars.

From Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind 300, Man of Steel, and Army of the Dead, comes Rebel Moon, an epic science-fantasy event decades in the making.

When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge.

As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.

Ed Skrein, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray FisherSofia BoutellaStuart Martin, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, and Sky Yang star alongside Michiel Huisman (“The Haunting of Hill House”), Cary Elwes (Saw), Corey Stoll (“The Strain”), and Alfonso Herrera (“The Exorcist”).

“This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan,” Zack Snyder recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.”

In addition to directing, Snyder is also co-writing the Rebel Moon screenplays with Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead) and Kurt Johnstad (300).
