Shania Twain tour crew involved in bus rollover near Wolseley, Sask.

A bus carrying members of Shania Twain’s crew was involved in a rollover on Highway 1 east of Wolseley, Sask., Wednesday morning.

Twain’s management company, Maverick, confirmed members of the crew were involved in the rollover. Twain was not involved in the rollover.

Twain is currently on her “Queen of Me Tour.”

Dwayne Stone, the fire chief for the Town of Grenfell, says firefighters and first responders were called out to the crash just after 7 a.m., where they had to break windows to free 13 people trapped in the bus.

People were taken to a nearby hospital, and Stone didn’t believe any of their injuries were life-threatening.

“All the escape hatches, the front top window and the back top window were out,” Stone said as he recalled the situation. “Slowly we got them out. We had people up on the roof, inside, people in the back, people in the front just working to get everyone out in a safe manner.”

RCMP did not provide further information on their conditions.

The “Queen of Me” tour is scheduled to stop in Saskatoon on Thursday. It is unclear if the show will continue.

The highway is currently closed from Wolseley to the Manitoba border along Highway 1 due to poor road conditions.

The bus is from Beat the Street USA, which operates a fleet of single, super-high and double-decker purpose-built sleeper coaches exclusive to the entertainment industry.

“The Street USA bus experienced black ice on the roadway causing an accident,” Joerg Philipp, the owner of Beat the Street USA said in a Facebook post. “All the passengers and driver are being evaluated for injuries and were immediately attended to by emergency responders and transported to the hospital for further treatment as needed.”

Wolseley is located about an hour east of Regina.
