On Wednesday, spokespeople for Tina Turner announced that the iconic performer had died at the age of 83. Over her decades-spanning career, she collaborated with a litany of artists, including, Rod Stewart, Barry White, Sting, and in recent years, dance music phenom Kygo. News of her death led to an outpouring of emotion on social media.
She received plenty of tributes from musicians who were inspired by her work. Ciara wrote, “Thank you for the inspiration you gave us all.” Keke Palmer shared a portrait of Turner on her Instagram story.

She counted many famous names among her fans. Earvin “Magic” Johnson, took to Twitter to share a memory, a photo that shows him posing with Turner and Elizabeth Taylor at a 1997 concert. “Rest in peace to one of my favorite artists of all time, the legendary queen of rock n’ roll Tina Turner,” he wrote. “I’ve seen her many many times and hands down, she gave one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. She always gave you your money’s worth.”

Bill Simmons also chimed in with an appraisal of her career. “Tina Turner — LEGEND. What a life, what a career, what a comeback, what an impact. I hate doing Twitter RIPs but R I P,” he wrote on Twitter. “Also—I think ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ is one of the best songs ever.”
Actor Forest Whitaker also commented on her legacy. “Tina Turner was an icon, whom we loved for her voice, her dancing, and her spirit,” he wrote. “As we honor her, let’s also reflect on her resilience, and think about all the greatness that can follow our darkest days.”
