Congratulations on your upcoming release ‘What’s On Your Fork! As it approaches how are you approaching this release?

This cookbook is a year in the making so I’m approaching it from many angles. In some ways, I feel like it’s been years and I need a nap! But mostly, I’m just embracing the moment. I have done all I can do at this point. The book is out there. I just hope my stars align and the cookbook gets in all the hands that need it. I have to let go and just be open and ready for whatever happens next.

How excited are your followers for this new book?

Words can’t describe how excited I am for my followers. They have been asking for a cookbook for years now. I kept pushing it off thinking “I’m not ready”, but my followers assured me it was time. I can’t wait for them to have this book in their hands and make some of my recipes in their own kitchen!

How did you come up with the title?

When I created Shelley Can Help in 2018, I began adding #whatsonyourfork to all my posts. Like every single post has this tag. When I was trying to come up with a title, I was having coffee with a friend and was asking her what she thought. She said, “Duh. What’s on Your Fork?!”. I couldn’t believe I didn’t think of that. It’s been my motto and my hashtag for 4 years now so I think it’s perfect. What we put on our fork every day makes a world of difference on our health.

How would you describe the tone of the book?

Light, encouraging, positive, and delicious. I want people to feel like I’m hugging them when they make these recipes. I want them to feel our connection as they cook. This book is full of food that will love your body and I want everyone to feel that love through these recipes.

What is the emphasis you want to make with this book?

Healthy cooking and eating doesn’t have to be difficult, use weird ingredients, or take hours of time. Healthy cooking CAN be simple and delicious and these recipes show just that.

Were there any sacrifices you had to make for this latest project?

Yes. My business took a small toll because so much of my energy and time were put into the creation of these recipes. I knew a cookbook would be hard work, but I really had no idea how much time it would consume. I don’t regret one minute of it. I’m proud of this project and can’t wait for it to be in kitchens all over the country.
