Fourteen months after losing his wife Helen McCrory to cancer, it seems that Damian Lewis is back on the dating scene and has started seeing The Kills singer, Alison Mosshart.
While Lewis and Mosshart have yet to publicly confirm their relationship, the rock singer’s mom Vivian is already thrilled at the possibility of meeting him. Vivian spoke to the Daily Mail from her home in Florida on Tuesday, telling the outlet, “I don’t know how much flak I’m going to get for all of this but of course we are excited for her.” She added, “They have mutual friends. I don’t know exactly how they met but I’m fine with it. If she’s happy, we are happy. I’m yet to meet him but certainly I’d like to.”
Before Lewis comes over for tea, however, she might have to brush up on a few of his acting credits as Vivian confessed, “I think I’ve seen Billions a couple of times but normally we just watch movies. I heard he has a new show coming out but I haven’t seen any of it.”
Mosshart is not only the frontwoman for The Kills, the band she co-founded with Kate Moss‘s ex-husband, Jamie Hince, but she’s also a member of the musical supergroup The Dead Weather, formed by Jack White. The singer has never been married and splits her time between Los Angeles, Nashville, and London where she apparently met Lewis. But her mom says that Mosshart is far more than just a musician. “She’s not an easy one to sum up. She’s a complicated, beautiful lady, and very intelligent,” she told the outlet. “She’s so very talented in so many areas that it constantly surprises us. It amazes us, actually. We are very proud.”
Mosshart and Lewis were first spotted together last month at a fundraising event for the UK’s National Gallery. They were also seen together last weekend at Serpentine Gallery’s annual summer party and were photographed together over the weekend at the British Formula One Grand Prix at Silverstone. On June 13, Lewis also shared a screenshot of a photo of Mosshart performing on stage posted by director Jim Jarmusch, writing, “Love this band,” and tagging The Kills.
Lewis married McCrory, who passed away last year following a private battle with breast cancer, in 2007 and they had two children together. In a social media post announcing the death of his late wife last year, Lewis wrote, “’She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air.”
