Actor Kevin Spacey is due to appear in court on Thursday (16 June) after being charged with sexual assault against three men.

Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of causing penetrative sexual activity without consent. The charges were announced on 26 May by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) following a review

The Metropolitan Police has now confirmed that Spacey will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court at 10:00am this Thursday, according to the BBC.

The American Beauty actor has been accused of committing four offences in London and one in Gloucestershire. The first two sexual assault charges are thought to have both been against the same man in March 2005.

The third alleged assault took place in August 2008, when Spacey allegedly engaged in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

The fourth count reportedly took place in Gloucestershire in April 2013.

Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, confirmed the charges in May.

“He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent,” Ainslie said.

“The charges follow a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”

Spacey, who is known for his roles in films such as House of Cards and The Usual Suspects has denied the allegations, and has said that he will “voluntarily appear” in court after reports that UK authorities were seeking a formal extradition of the actor from the US.

I will voluntarily appear in the UK as soon as can be arranged and defend myself against these charges, which I am confident will prove my innocence” he said following the charges.
