Police have charged Britney Spears’ ex-husband Jason Alexander with four misdemeanours after he “crashed” her wedding to Sam Asghari.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said on Thursday (9 June) that Jason Alexander, 40, broke into Britney Spears’ Los Angeles, California, home as she prepared for the ceremony.

Authorities slapped Alexander with two counts of misdemeanour battery, one count of misdemeanour vandalism and one count of misdemeanour trespassing following the incident, which he documented on an Instagram livestream.

Officers were dispatched to Spears’ residence to investigate a trespassing complaint at 2pm, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to Variety. Police apprehended Alexander and arrested him on an outstanding county warrant.

Alexander, who was famously married to Spears for 55 hours in 2005, is being held on $2,500 bail. As he had an open warrant for grand theft embezzlement and possession of stolen property, his bail was set at a further $20,000. the department said.

“Jason Alexander has been handcuffed, taken into custody and arrested. I express my thanks to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for their prompt response and good work,” Spears’ attorney, Mathew Rosengart, told Page Six.

“I’m working closely with law enforcement to ensure Mr Alexander is aggressively prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Mere hours before Spears married her boyfriend of five years, Alexander filmed himself for 10 minutes walking into Spears’ property in Thousand Oaks and trying to avoid security.

“Where’s Britney at? … They know I’m here,” he told several guards. After making his way through Spears’ home and into her backyard, Alexander told a guest “I’m here to crash the wedding” as he decried the “bulls**t wedding”.

Alexander burst into the site as wedding planners were still busy putting finishing touches, even shaking one of their hands and introducing himself. He showed the more than 160 users watching the video the pink tent decorated with roses where Britney Spears’ wedding was set to take place.

“First husband, here to crash it … Britney Spears invited me here!” he said. Walking out of the tent, he strolled towards a guard shouting: “She’s my first wife, my only wife, I’m her first husband. I’m here to crash the wedding.”

The video ended as Alexander asked, “where f**k is the family”, before a physical struggle ensued and the live stream cut out.

The incident marks Alexander’s third arrest in more than a year. In January 2021, he was thrown into police custody for driving under the influence, arrested for breaking security protocols at an airport in August, and was arrested for stalking a woman and violating an order of protection in December.

Before the break-in, Alexander uploaded a rambling video naming Spears’ family, Asghari’s family, Kate Hudson and “everyone associated with Britney” before talking about “pump and dump”, a stock money laundering scheme.

Britney Spears’ wedding ended up taking place without a hitch, People reported. Madonna, Drew Barrymore and Paris Hilton were among the attendees of the intimate ceremony, watching Spears walk down the aisle to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help But Feeling in Love”.
