The horrific attack on Roe v Wade continues to probe tense debate on abortin rights – and The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg is the latest to weigh in.

Goldberg vehemently denounced male lawmakers making decisions without input from individuals who a potential repeal of abortion rights will affect.

The EGOT winner shared a piece of her mind on The View the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would have legalised the abortion rights set by Roe v Wade and supersede pro-life laws, failed in the Senate on Wednesday (11 May).

In an impassioned speech directed at the Republican lawmakers who blocked the bill, Goldberg said: “None of you have any uteruses, you don’t have a vagina, you don’t have anything that goes through carrying or making decisions about babies.”

She continued, all guns blazing: “You don’t give a hoot about what you just did.”

Goldberg ended her speech by pleading with viewers to vote out such “fools”, which led to a round of applause from the audience.

Guest co-host, former Trump aide Alyssa Farrah Griffin, was on the other side of Goldberg’s stance.

Griffin asked Goldberg: “This is an uncomfortable conversation we have to have, at what point does a baby in the womb have rights separate from its mother?”

Goldberg stood firm in her viewpoint and said: “Listen, I don’t have to tell you — it’s your decision. What you do with your body and how your family works, and for me, I don’t care what your religious beliefs are.”

The two co-hosts, on two sides of a contentious debate and it was apparent neither was going to budge especially as Griffin asked Goldberg: “When does the baby in the womb have rights?”

And Goldberg said: “It doesn’t matter when you think it is.”

The View co-host Joy Behar said: “”I think that there’s a larger issue that’s at stake right now. I think Americans are in denial exactly about what this Republican Party is planning to do.

“They would like to overturn voting rights, they would like to overturn gay rights, they are in the process of overturning women’s rights.”
