The first images of Jodie Comer rehearsing for the West End premiere of Prima Facie have been released.

The Killing Eve star will make her West End debut at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 15 April until 18 June.

The first-look images show Comer in rehearsals alongside director Justin Martin and writer Suzie Miller, as reported by What’s On Stage.

Comer will play, Tessa, an attorney whose career is built on defending rapists and discrediting their victims, who is then sexually assaulted herself.

Following her assault, Comer’s character finds herself at the mercy of the criminal justice system that she once used to her advantage – one that favours men and disbelieves women.

It’s the West End adaption of the play from Australian playwright Suzie Miller, with the setting changed from Australia to Liverpool for this production.

Miller, who formerly worked as a lawyer says: “I don’t know of any sexual assault statement that I’ve ever taken, where I could ever be convinced that they were lying.

“Remember, not so long ago it wasn’t illegal to rape your wife.”

She adds: “Let’s redefine what consent is. Let’s make sure that if you’re a man and not socially equipped to read the signs, then learn! Let’s bring up boys to know that No Means No.”

Meanwhile singer-songwriter Self Esteem will compose the music for the production.

She announced the news on social media, writing: “The coolest thing I’ve ever done is no longer a secret!!!! I’m composing the music for this astonishing play starring the MVP and an unreal creative team!!!”.

Comer recently returned as killer assassin, Villanelle for the fourth and final season of BBC’s Killing Eve.

The series has received mixed reviews from critics, but queer fans are remaining loyal to the show.

One fan tweeted: “Straight people might give negative reviews for [season four] but Killing Eve is literally made for gay people, and gay people’s happiness is all that matters,” one Twitter user said.
