Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher Pass $30 Million Goal for Ukraine Fundraiser

Just three weeks after launching their GoFundMe to raise money for Ukrainian refugees, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have surpassed their initial goal of $30 million.

In a video update shared on Kutcher’s Instagram account Thursday, Kunis announced, “We just want to say that we hit our goal!…Over 65,000 of you donated. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your support. And while this is far from a solve of the problem, our collective effort will provide a softer landing for so many people as they forge ahead into their future of uncertainty.”

Kutcher added, “Our work is not done. We will do everything we can to ensure that the outpouring of love that came as a part of this campaign finds maximum impact with those in need. As funding continues to come in we’re going to treat every dollar as if it’s being donated from our pocket, with respect and honor for the work that went into earning it, with the intent of love through which it was given, and the desire for it so be maximized for positive outcome for others.”

Kunis thanked everyone who has given money so far, concluding the clip by imploring her fans, “Please don’t stop donating whether to us or other unbelievable foundations out there. This is just a beginning to a very, very, very long journey. Thank you, everybody.” In the caption of the post, the couple also explained that, “Funds have already and will continue to be delivered to Flexport.org and Airbnb.org so they can act now.”

Last week, Kunis—who was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine and moved to America shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union—spoke to Maria Shriver for her digital series, “Conversations Above the Noise,” about what it’s been like for her witnessing what’s happening in the country. “I’ve been there, but have always considered myself very much an American,” the actress explained. “This happens and I can’t express or explain what came over me, but all of a sudden I genuinely was, like, ‘oh my God, I feel like a part of my heart just got ripped out.’ It was the weirdest feeling.”
