Drag Race star Ginger Minj will be adding a little bit of spice to the highly-anticipated sequel to Disney’s iconic film Hocus Pocus.
Ginger quickly became a legendary part of the Drag Race family after her stellar performances across season seven as well as All Stars seasons two and six.
The drag performer has made a name off the runway for her electric presence on Anne Fletcher’s Netflix comedy Dumplin’ and Rupaul’s Christmas special The Bitch Who Stole Christmas.
Now, Ginger is taking on perhaps her most iconic role to date as a drag-version of Bette Midler’s campy Winifred Sanderson in the upcoming Hocus Pocus 2.
Sources close to the production told EW that Ginger filmed a cameo for the Disney Plus film back in November. The scene will see Ginger and two other queens impersonating the wicked Sanderson sisters during a fabulous drag show.
But the real Sanderson sisters – played by Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy – stumble upon the performance and chaos ensues.
Fans were ecstatic with the news that the Drag Race star would be paying tribute to Midler’s iconic character.

To be fair, it was gonna be Ginger Minj or Jinkx Monsoon …. Nobody else has the range to be a drag version on Winifred Sanderson.

Ginger Minj and Disney have not commented on the casting yet. But the official RuPaul’s Drag Race Twitter account did send Ginger their heartfelt congratulations on the role.
EW noted there was footage, reportedly from the Hocus Pocus 2 set, that was leaked on social media which appeared to show Ginger in Winifred-inspired drag.
The sequel to the cult classic film was officially announced to be in development back in October 2019. Midler, Parker and Najimy confirmed in May that they would be returning for the sequel via adorable posts on Instagram.
According to Digital Spy, Hocus Pocus 2 could potentially debut on Disney Plus later this year just in time for the spooky season.
