Wendy Stuart – NYC NightLife Icon Plans For The Holidays

Wendy Stuart is an icon of NYC nightlife. An author, tv host, model, filmmaker and actor, Wendy Stuart is one of the busiest women in show business.

Wendy Stuart hosts  “Pandemic Cooking With Wendy,” a popular YouTube comedic cooking show born in the era of Covid-19, If These Walls Could Talk with Co-Host Tym Moss,  and TriVersity Talk, a weekly web series with featured guests discussing their lives, activism and pressing issues in the LGBTQ Community.

Dubbed by her friends “the Kathy Griffin of fashion”, Wendy’s hilarious, occasionally poignant story of how she became – and has remained for 30 years – one of the most successful “fit” models in the country (that size 8 you’re wearing might very well be based on Wendy Stuart Kaplan’s figure), is told with a Griffin-esque sense of humor untarnished by malice. From studying voodoo in Nigeria through years of taking mind-numbing jobs just to pay the rent, to her success in the present day where she can say of the women’s underwear sold at Wal-Mart, modeled on her size eight body, “I cover the asses of the masses.”

As an actress, print model, and stand up comedienne, Wendy has worked in film, television and theatre and has made appearances on many syndicated and daytime talk shows.  Her fun personality and quick sense of humor made her a standout guest whether she was modeling unusual wedding gowns on Geraldo or selling shoes on Speigel TV.  Her eclectic career also includes being voted Mrs. NY, going on to compete in the National Mrs. America pageant.

What are you planning for the holidays?

I’ve got a bunch of upcoming shows I’m performing at. I will be doing my Christmas Medley Parody at Pieces in a show called “The 12 Drags of Christmas” for the Imperial Court. And shortly after that I’m doing an 80’s fundraiser for the Tyler Clemente Foundation at Industry. And please judge me by the company I keep since Tym Moss and Ike Avelli are in the show as well! I will be doing a fun lip sync number “Johnny Are You Queer”, and “If These Walls Could Talk” is currently on the hunt for a very special holiday guest for our show!

What is your ultimate holiday goal personally?

To live life well and large!!!! I can honestly say as a social influencer I have been going out a minimum of four nights a week! No kissy, no huggy is my motto, so I can safely go to live events that I missed for 20 months. I am truly making up for lost time. And with that being said, I am surrounding myself with positive people that are on the same page as I am and that page has a title. It says “Live Life Large”. This holiday season will be about having fun and making my career goals happen while I’m having fun!

If you could choose someone to be on your show who you haven’t had on yet who would it be and why?

Are you ready for this one? RuPaul!!! To me RuPaul is the ultimate entertainer, has transcended decades, has reinvented, all the while keeping the integrity of who RuPaul is.  RuPaul has brought the Art of Drag mainstream, where many housewives, husbands, and children now embrace the creativity, humor, artistry, and humanity of what drag represents. How many people can you say that about?

What is your ultimate Holiday Gift and please don’t say world peace?

Well, it’s not world peace but close…raising awareness through my shows and performance parodies. As we go into 2022 we have to hope that people have learned the importance of taking care of each other. I can honestly say that the arts community has totally come together supporting each other. We’ve got each other’s back. More than many other communities. For many of us our lives came to a crashing halt because of the lack of stages and productions. We have covered each other for almost two years. And we will continue to do that. My gift is to keep supporting the amazing talent I have met from the guests on my shows to the people I perform with live.

Are you planning a Christmas Show for If These Walls Could Talk?

We are on the hunt for someone who Uniquely represents the arts community, who has evolved from who they were to who they are now and have reinvented themselves for the current market.  The word is out….let’s see who it is…

What is your New Year’s Resolution?

To get distribution for my shows on major streaming platforms as well as moving my own film and TV career ahead. Read this: I am actively looking for a committed agent or manager. Someone with time in, to represent and distribute my product. Someone who can work with me to mainstream myself and my projects to TV.

What’s next for Wendy in 2022 and beyond.

Things have opened up. Which means I can finish our documentary on Working Dogs and Service Dogs, modeling jobs, speaking, hosting, acting, working as an MC, all of it. The world is opening up. And I’m so ready! Here’s to 2022!
