Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas Had the Perfect Lizzie Maguire Throwback Halloween Costume

On October 30, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas came up with the perfect couple’s costume for nostalgic fans of Hillary Duff. They posted a shot of themselves with actress Olivia DeLonge as characters from The Lizzie Maguire Movie, Paolo Valisari and Isabella Parigi, played by Yani Gellman and Duff in the film. DeLonge posed as Lizzie, also played by Duff in the movie—she’s versatile!

“Have you ever seen such a beautiful night?” Jonas wrote on his post, while Turner quoted, “Sing to me Paolo.”

The original movie saw Lizzie living out her dream of being a pop star on stage.

Based on her reaction, it almost seems like Duff’s lifelong dream was to see these costumes. She commented on Turner’s post, “I’M SCREAMING,” followed by several crying emojis.

The original Disney Channel series aired from 2001 to 2013, and there was talk of a Lizzie McGuire reboot that Duff even shot a few episodes of. But it never materialized, which she addressed during an interview on Good Morning America in March this year. The new series was supposed to follow McGuire as a millennial woman living in New York City as she’s about to turn 30, apprenticing with a top designer and dating a dreamboat, but plans fell through.

“It was a big disappointment, obviously,” Duff said. ”I will forever be grateful for the two episodes that we did shoot. It was a really special two weeks of my life.”

She shared the news that the show wasn’t going to materialize in a post last December on Instagram.

“I’ve been so honored to have the character of Lizzie in my life,” Duff wrote. “She has made such a lasting impact on many, including myself. To see the fans’ loyalty and love for her, to this day, means so much to me. I know the efforts and conversations have been everywhere trying to make a reboot work, but sadly & despite everyone’s best efforts, it isn’t going to happen.

“I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today. It’s what the character deserves…We can all take a moment to mourn the amazing woman she would have been and the adventures we would have taken with her. I’m very sad, but I promise everyone tried their best and the stars just didn’t align. Hey now, this is what 2020s made of.”
