Schitt’s Creek Farewell Tour Not Happening Because We Can’t Have Nice Things

The award-winning series’s victory lap will be restricted to our hearts.

The father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy announced some disappointing news via social media on Friday: The “Farewell Tour” for their juggernaut sitcom sensation Schitt’s Creek, which was already postponed, has now been scrapped entirely because of pandemic-related complications.

“When we postponed the Schitt’s Creek: The Farewell tour, we had every hope and intention of traveling to see you later this year,” the pair wrote. “However, despite our best efforts to reschedule while keeping your health and safety at the forefront, we’ve found that state and local mandates vary too widely to do so in the near future.” All who bought tickets will be refunded.

Originally announced in May 2020, weeks before the show’s final episode aired, the live show was to include behind-the-scenes clips, stories from cast members, and the opportunity for fans to interact with the stars. In addition to the Levys, Catherine O’Hara, Annie Murphy, Emily Hampshire, and Noah Reid were on board. (Imagine: the opportunity to hear O’Hara say “Bebe” in person.) Eighteen nights were initially announced at big rooms like the Orpheum in Los Angeles, The Chicago Theater in Chicago, The Borgata in Atlantic City, and The MGM National Harbor in Maryland.

A number of dates were also planned throughout Florida, where Governor Ron DeSantis continues to dig in his heels in denying safety measures to prevent the spread of Covid’s delta variant.
