Beyoncé Is Building a Hemp and a Honey Farm

Beyoncé is already a multi-hyphenate par excellence, but it seems that during the pandemic she’s added a few more job titles to that already lengthy list of professional endeavors—amateur beekeeper and horticulturist.

In a new cover story for Harper’s Bazaar, the singer revealed that after spending the last year and a half in quarantine she’s learned how to go “from overindulgences to creating positive rituals drawing from past generations and putting my own spin on things.” She explained, “I discovered CBD on my last tour, and I’ve experienced its benefits for soreness and inflammation. It helped with my restless nights and the agitation that comes from not being able to fall asleep. I found healing properties in honey that benefit me and my children.” And now, because of those enormously positive experiences she and her children—Blue, Rumi, and Sir—have had with both those ingredients, she announced, “I’m building a hemp and a honey farm. I’ve even got hives on my roof! And I’m so happy that my daughters will have the example of those rituals from me.”

She added, “One of my most satisfying moments as a mom is when I found Blue one day soaking in the bath with her eyes closed, using blends I created and taking time for herself to decompress and be at peace.” The Grammy winner also teased that her fans might get the opportunity to have their own soak in one of her custom honey bath blends in the very near future, saying, “I have so much to share…and there’s more to come soon!”

This also isn’t the first time Beyoncé has expressed her passion for the all-natural benefits of the honey. In November 2020, in another cover story for British Vogue, the pop star confessed, “I know it’s random, but I have two beehives. Real ones.” She continued, “I’ve had them at my house for a while now. I have around 80,000 bees and we make hundreds of jars of honey a year. I started the beehives because my daughters, Blue and Rumi, both have terrible allergies, and honey has countless healing properties.” And if Beyoncé ever wants to share some of those healing properties by offloading a few of those hundreds of jars of extra honey, there’s no doubt the Bey-hive would eat up any product that came out of Queen B’s actual apiaries.
