Lady Gaga has announced she will have new album dropping in October, and it’s going to tug at heartstrings.
The “Poker Face” singer confirmed she will be collaborating with music legend Tony Bennett once more on a new album titled Love For Sale. Gaga first teamed up with Bennett on the 2014 record Cheek To Cheek and embarked on a world tour the following year.
The new album announcement also comes as the legendary crooner turned 95-years-old. The Gaga and Bennett collab titled Love For Sale will delve into the Cole Porter songbook of classic popular music. It will boast a “mix of jazz ensemble, big band and orchestral arrangements” as per the press release.
Lady Gaga shared on Instagram that Bennett called her shortly after releasing Cheek To Cheek and “asked me if I wanted to record another album with him”.
“I’m always honoured to sing with my friend Tony, so of course I accepted the invitation,” Gaga wrote.
Love For Sale is composed of 10 tracks with an extra two singles added onto the deluxe version, and it will mark Bennett’s last studio recording.
Last month, the duo said they would be reuniting for two live shows at New York City‘s iconic Radio City Music Hall. The concerts will be held Tuesday (3 August) and Thursday (5 August) in celebration of Bennett’s birthday.
NME reported the shows – dubbed “One Last Time: An Evening With Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga” – have been billed as Bennett’s final ever performances.
Earlier this year, Bennett revealed that he has been living with Alzheimer’s disease for the last four years in an article for AARP Magazine. In an Instagram post about the article, Bennett told fans that “life is a gift – even with Alzheimer’s”.
At the time of recording their new album, Bennett had already been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, according to the press release.
Lady Gaga told Parade in 2014 that her close friendship with Bennett rescued her career and her personal life. She even told the magazine that she reminds Bennett “every day that he saved my life”.
The “Paparazzi” singer tearfully said she felt like she doesn’t “have many people I can relate to” and that her friendship with Bennett “meant a lot to me”.
Love For Sale will debut on 1 October, and MTV will premiere the official video for Lady Gaga and Bennett’s track “I Get A Kick Out Of You” Friday (6 August).
