Britney Spears Is Reportedly “Doing Well” and “Feels Like She Finally Has a Voice”

Now that she’s said her piece in court and seen the public’s outpouring of love and support in response, Britney Spears is reportedly starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel after years of ongoing litigation surrounding her conservatorship.

The past week has seen a lot of turnover in Spears’s inner circle, with the financial institution that served as co-conservator of her estate, her longtime manager, and her court-appointed attorney all requesting to resign. And on Tuesday, her mother, Lynne Spears, also filed a petition requesting that her daughter be permitted to hire her own lawyer to represent her. But even amid all these sudden changes, a source told People that the pop star is “doing well and staying focused” and feels “like she finally has a voice.” They went on to explain, “She is very involved and aware of all the conservatorship developments. She feels like things are moving in the right direction. She feels like she finally has a voice.”

“She is beyond grateful for all the support,” the insider added. “She is also very hopeful that there will be huge changes. She is in constant contact with [her mom]—Lynne is doing everything she can to help Britney. Britney very much hopes that the judge will allow her to hire her own lawyer.” In addition to Lynne’s petition this week, the singer’s co-conservator Jodi Montgomery also filed a petition for a guardian ad litem, according to People. This request seeks to enlist a third-party advocate to assist Spears in finding and selecting her own lawyer without her having to undergo another medical examination—one of the things Spears made clear during her court testimony last month. During the hearing, she said, “I want changes…. I deserve changes. I was told I have to sit down and be evaluated again…. Ma’am, I didn’t know I could petition the conservatorship to be ended…. I honestly didn’t know that. But honestly, I don’t think I owe anyone to be evaluated. I’ve done more than enough.”
