Could There Be “Peace” Ahead for William and Harry?

The two brothers reportedly met privately following Thursday’s statue unveiling ceremony in an attempt to hash out their differences.

It seems like Prince William and Prince Harry may have finally put their longstanding feud to bed and found a little bit of “peace,” at least according to their late mother Princess Diana’s voice coach, Stewart Pearce.

Following the statue unveiling which brought the two brothers back together again for the first time since their grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral, Pearce confided to Us Weekly that, “I feel that the vibration of it has detonated the essence of peace. By the behaviors that were just so easy, so formal—or informal, rather—so humorous between the two of them, I felt that that behavior would actually completely change the way that the vilification has taken place, which is really based on the fear or [ideas of] so many people with so many opinions thinking that they’ve actually been talking to individuals within the royal court. Whereas actually they’ve only just simply been making the whole thing up.”

He added that he doesn’t believe the siblings were ever seriously fighting, and their friendly demeanor towards one another at the unveiling ceremony, “dispels any of the brouhaha over the fact that there’s a rift. I didn’t believe that there was a rift. There was a slight disagreement, but I mean, who doesn’t disagree with his brother? But [it’s] been blown out of complete proportion, it’s been overly dramatized. They both were so relaxed.”

Pearce also thinks that it’s for the best that the affair was kept so small as it sets a good example for following pandemic guidelines and, “If Meghan [Markle] had been there, I think it would have been explosive because the British press would just simply find something derogatory to say about whether it’s to do with the fact that she was…just very easy in the experience or something to do with what she was wearing.”

But while Meghan had good reason not to be there, considering both the recent birth of her second child and the way she’s been treated by the U.K. tabloids, according to another source, Kate Middleton “really wanted to attend.” The insider said that, “Out of respect for [Prince] Harry and William, [the royal family] wanted it to be just about Diana’s sons and not a huge public affair. Kate was definitely supporting William while physically not being there and really wanted to attend, but the family as a whole decided it was best for the kids and her to stay home.” They explained that the family decided “a few weeks ago” who would be able to attend the scaled-down ceremony due to the pandemic, which is why “Kate watched from afar with” Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The rest of the royals are expected to visit the statue privately “at a later time.”
