Is O.J. Simpson Planning to Pay the $60 Million He Owes? No.

Simpson’s legal team will continue fighting the Ron Goldman judgments, his attorney said.

O.J. Simpson intends to fight recent Nevada rulings that state he owes $60 million or more after being found liable for the wrongful deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. His attorney Malcolm LaVergne promised to litigate against the payments “to the very end,” according to the Associated Press.

Simpson, who was found not guilty in the criminal trial for the 1994 double homicide, but was later found liable in a civil trial, is regularly seen today making short videos for his 900,000 Twitter followers about golf, football, and his old lawyers and signing autographs. The initial amount he was ordered to pay Ron Goldman’s parents was $33.5 million, which has doubled over the years.

Fred Goldman, Ron Goldman’s father, and Paul Dorsey, who acquired the legal claim from Goldman’s mother Sharon Rufo after she auctioned it off, made a new push for the money following a separate March 31 settlement between Simpson and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Simpson claimed defamation against the hotel and casino when employees told TMZ reporters he had been banned for disorderly conduct in 2017.

Simpson’s legal team refused to say how much, if any, money came Simpson’s way, according to the Associated Press.

“They can’t prove there are any settlement proceeds,” LaVergne said regarding Goldman and Dorsey’s new demand for restitution.

Simpson spent nine years in prison after being convicted of kidnapping and the robbery of sports memorabilia in an off-strip Las Vegas hotel in 2007. He was paroled in October of 2017.
