Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez Reportedly Returned to the Hotel Where They Had Their First Date

The couple may have called off their engagement, but apparently they’re still enjoying an occasional meal together.

Things may officially be over between Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, but it seems like there’s still some affection between the formerly affianced pair—or at least, time for another friendly meal.

After announcing their split on the Today show a little over a week ago, a source told Page Six that they spotted the ex-couple grabbing dinner together over the weekend at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles—the same place where they went on their first date in 2017. Lopez also reportedly owns a $28 million mansion nearby. While the two stars may insist that things between them are finished for good, the source said, “There still seemed to be love and respect there.”

In 2017, Lopez told Vanity Fair of the pair’s first meet-up, “I don’t know if he thought it was a date. I thought it was a date. Then I knew he was nervous because he asked me if I wanted a drink. I said, ‘No, I don’t drink,’ and he asked if I minded if he had one. He was nervous, and it was really cute.” Rodriguez confirmed, “I didn’t know if it was a date. Maybe we were seeing each other at night because of her work schedule. I went in uneasy, not knowing her situation. It would be incredibly productive for me to sit with one of the smartest, greatest women in the world, especially for a guy like me who is coming through tough times, rehabbing himself, re-establishing himself to folks out there. I thought it would be a win-win no matter what.” He added, “She told me around the third or fourth inning that she was single. I had to get up and go re-adjust my thoughts. I went to the bathroom and got enough courage to send her a text.” That text said “You look sexy AF,” and the rest is celebrity relationship history.

Rodriguez initially seemed pretty downtrodden regarding his split from the pop star, posting an Instagram Story the night before their joint breakup announcement of a corner of his home filled with romantic photos of him and Lopez and their names drawn in a heart in the sand as the gentle strains of Coldplay’s “Fix You” play in the background. But it now seems the retired MLB player is beginning to find some solace as, after his alleged dinner date with his ex, he posted a photo to his Instagram Stories of a mirror with the quote, “Today I’m choosing to accept the things I cannot change.”
