Stephen Miller Hoping to Traumatize Migrant Children From New Government Post

The white nationalist and former Trump staffer is eyeing his next gig.

Remember Stephen Miller? Proud white supremacist who parlayed a job working for then senator Jeff Sessions into a job in Donald Trump’s White House? Was the architect of the administration’s family-separation policy? Reportedly killed a deal to pay for mental health services for all the migrant children his policies fucked up? Furiously raced to screw over as many immigrants as possible in his last days in power? Once showed up for a TV interview with what appeared to be spray-on hair? In a just world the end of the Trump administration would have meant the end of Stephen Miller’s career. But of course we don’t live in a just world, and there are plenty of people out there who appreciate the deep and abiding hatred Miller has for nonwhite people who weren’t born in the United States. Which is why the love child of Mr. Burns and Lord Voldemort, who, as a reminder, has been this hateful since he was a teenager, may apparently rebound from Trump with a Senate gig.

AL.com reports that Miller will appear with Alabama congressman Mo Brooks on Monday for a “major announcement” during which Brooks is expected to reveal if he will run for reelection in the House or launch a bid for the Senate, following the news that Richard Shelby will not seek a seventh term. Miller will reportedly be Brooks’s “special guest” at the Huntsville event, and while it’s not clear what role Miller would play in a potential Brooks campaign or senatorial job, he seems at the very least to be advising the Alabama representative in an unofficial capacity.

Miller, of course, is no stranger to Alabama senators, having begun working for for Sessions in 2009 and ultimately becoming communications director. In that position Miller played a key role in killing comprehensive immigration reform in 2014 and encouraged Sessions to warn people that immigrants would “decimate” the country. (It was also from his perch in Sessions’s office that Miller began sending emails to Breitbart editors in which, among other things, he recommended an extremely racist book that depicts the “end of the white world” after it is overrun by refugees and describes immigrants as “kinky-haired, swarthy-skinned, long-despised phantoms.”)

Brooks and Miller, of course, are a match made in racist heaven; the congressman once told Laura Ingraham that Democrats were waging a “war on whites” and declared that he would do everything to stop undocumented immigrants “short of shooting them.” (Such restraint!) Shortly before the January 6 attack on the Capitol building, Brooks shouted to the crowd assembled for the “Stop the Steal” rally, “Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass. Are you willing to do what it takes to fight for America? Louder! Will you fight for America?”

Elsewhere in Miller news, the new father has unsurprisingly been appearing on Fox News to criticize Joe Biden on immigration policy without a hint of irony. Last night he complained to Ingraham that, according to his sources, “you have border agents that are being instructed to literally drive busloads of illegal immigrants and release them into communities…. That is functionally, by any definition, open borders.”
