CBS All Access has become Paramount+, making the platform the new streaming home of Josh Boone‘s adaptation of Stephen King‘s The Stand. The nine-episode season wrapped up just last month, and you can find the whole thing streaming now on Paramount+. If you’re not yet a subscriber, however, you’ll be happy to hear that Episode 1 is now on YouTube.
Paramount+ has uploaded the hour-long series premiere of “The Stand” to their YouTube channel this week, giving you the chance to watch without a subscription to the service.
The series brings to life King’s vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.
Interestingly, King himself has written a brand new ending for the series.
The cast includes Alexander Skarsgård as Randall Flagg and Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail. Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Greg Kinnear, Brad William Henke, Nat Wolff, Daniel Sunjata, James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Heather Graham, Hamish Linklater and Henry Zaga also star.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her review of the first six episodes for Bloody Disgusting, “This new approach to Stephen King’s source material boldly reduces its scale to give riveting emphasis on character building, yet struggles to set the stakes.”
