Meghan Markle teased a reveal about her new baby in the opening minutes of her Sunday night interview with Oprah Winfrey, and when Prince Harry arrived for his portion fo the sit-down, they revealed the news: it’s a girl!
Asked how he felt about learning he would have a daughter, Harry replied, “Amazing. Just grateful. To have any child, any one or any two, would have been amazing. But to have a boy and then a girl, what more can you ask for. We’ve got our family—the four of us and our two dogs.”
Oprah read exactly what he intended in that sentence. “Done?” Meghan responded, “Done. Two is it.”
Meghan confirmed she is due in the “summertime,” which likely means the baby will arrive shortly after their son Archie’s second birthday. Born on May 6, 2019, when Harry and Meghan were living at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, Archie has since lived in Vancouver and now in their mansion in Santa Barbara, where they have indicated they plan to stay put.
Meghan’s solo portion of the interview with Oprah was wide-ranging and deeply emotional, going into detail about the extent of her despair before she and Harry stepped down as senior royals, and the lack of support she felt from within the palace as she endured relentless media coverage— including during her first pregnancy with Archie.
