Like most creative industries, the fashion industry has taken a huge hit during the coronavirus pandemic—and some of the biggest names in fashion are no exception. With a new year beginning and the end of the pandemic in sight, Vanity Fair is catching up with 12 fashion greats, as they recommend their go-to items for quarantine, and their hopes for the year to come.
“Being at home for much of this year has reminded me to treasure family, friends and togetherness,” said Wes Gordon, the creative director for Carolina Herrera. “ I hope to go into 2021 with kindness and gratitude and I cannot wait to spend time again with colleagues and friends at some of my favorite restaurants in New York.”
Since starting his role at Carolina Herrera in 2018, Gordon has been acclaimed for reimagining some of the designer’s signature elements, and infusing the clothing with his colorful, playful and fanciful spirit. As he told Vanity Fair last year, “I love color, and everything I do at Herrera is basically about color.”
Wes and his husband (the glassblower Paul Arnhold) have been dividing their time between New York City and their farm house in Connecticut. “Home has been a sanctuary this year and surrounding ourselves with items that bring joy and comfort has never felt more necessary,” Gordon said. “For me, those pieces are often colorful, patinated, textured, and unmatched. And, most importantly, they are pieces that I want to have forever – sustainability begins when we stop viewing everything as disposable.”
From a rare coffee table book written by a close friend to a floral tablecloth that will add a pop of color to any tablescape, Gordon has chosen his favorite at-home items that you’re guaranteed to love as much as we do.
