‘Dying Light 2’ Lead Writer Leaves Project, Though Techland Assures “Exciting News” is Coming

It’s probably not the best way to start your new year off with news that a senior writer is leaving your project that’s expected for release later this year. Yet that’s what’s happened with Techland, as Dying Light 2‘s lead writer Pawel Selinger has parted ways with the developer after 22 years.

Selinger made the announcement via his LinkedIn page. “I would like to express my gratitude to the company that has allowed me to develop and fulfill myself for half of my life. Techland, I will always be rooting for you, as well as the great people I have met thanks to you. I wish you that Dying Light 2 and subsequent projects will become world hits.”

Techland has confirmed that Selinger has left the company, but clarified that his role as narrative designer had been filled a couple months prior to his departure by Piotr Szymanek back in October.

Needless to say, despite the reassurance, we still don’t have any indication as to when Dying Light 2 will be released, despite the earlier tease from Techland’s official Discord channel. However, the Techland rep did say that the developer “will be sharing exciting news about Dying Light 2 soon!”

Dying Light 2 is currently being developed for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series.
