Natacha Ramsay-Levi has stepped down as the creative director of Chloé. The French designer spent four years helming the Parisian fashion label, where she presented collections marked by intricate tailoring combined with the maison’s signature boheme, flowing silhouettes. She also often collaborated with women artists.

“I want to thank Chloé for this opportunity,” Ramsay-Levi said in a statement released this morning. “I am equally thankful for their support in my decision to leave my position. I do so with a sense of hope for the development of this great brand and its renewed commitment to a meaningful and powerful femininity.”

Ramsay-Levi went on to further explain that her decision was a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the fashion industry’s social reckoning. “It is this reflection that makes me consider my future differently and desire to pursue new opportunities,” she said.

Before taking the reins at Chloé, Ramsay-Levi worked under Nicolas Ghesquiere, designing women’s ready-to-wear both at Louis Vuitton and at his previous position at Balenciaga. She succeeded Clare Waight Keller, who then decamped to Givenchy, before stepping down from the position in April. Ramsay-Levi’s successor has yet to be named by the Richemont-owned brand.

“Natacha has made a great contribution to Chloé, bringing at its center the intelligence and sense of mission that were defined by our founder,” said Riccardo Bellini, CEO of Chloé. “She is an important member of that proud tradition of women who have designed at Chloé. Her creative leadership and her vision have written a powerful and meaningful chapter in our story.”
