‘Orphan: First Kill’: Isabelle Fuhrman Will Return as Esther in ‘Orphan’ Prequel Film!

We had learned earlier this year that Jaume Collet-Serra’s Orphan will be getting a prequel film, and today Variety breaks the news that Isabelle Fuhrman will be back!

The film is now titled Orphan: First Kill, formerly titled Esther.

It was back in 2009 that Fuhrman brought Esther to the screen, who looked to be a child but was actually revealed to be a murderous 33-year-old woman named Leena Klammer.

Fuhrman is now 23 years old, which begs the question of how she can possibly appear in a prequel to Orphan as Esther/Leena. We suppose all will be revealed soon enough.

Update: Deadline explains

“In order to help Fuhrman bring her character to life again, filmmakers are utilizing a combination of forced perspective shooting and a world-class makeup team.”

In the film, “Leena Klammer orchestrates a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But Leena’s new life as “Esther” comes with an unexpected wrinkle and pits her against a mother who will protect her family at any cost.”

Julia Stiles has also joined the cast, Deadline adds, with William Brent Bell (The Boy) directing the Orphan follow-up film. David Coggeshall wrote the script.

The project comes from Dark Castle Entertainment and Entertainment One.
