Apparently, it’s not just Britney Spears’s father and mother who are deeply involved in the pop star’s conservatorship and personal finances.
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears was also added as a trustee of her estate in 2018. Britney established the SJB Revocable Trust in 2004 as a way to hold and manage her multimillion-dollar assets and protect her wealth for the use of her two children in the future. Last month, Britney’s mother Lynne filed a request with the Los Angeles Superior Court to be included in any “special notice” of “all matters” regarding the trust.
The newly uncovered documents reveal that the trust was amended to include Jamie Lynn as a trustee by the pop star’s then co-conservators, her father Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet. Wallet voluntarily resigned from the position in March 2019, but just last week Jamie reportedly submitted a petition to the court to have himself and the attorney reinstated as Britney’s co-conservators, despite his daughter’s own legal filing that states she is “strongly opposed” to her father’s return. The court has reportedly scheduled a hearing regarding Jamie’s co-conservator request for September 16.
In the new documents, Jamie Lynn is requesting that the court approve the appointment of Fidelity Financial Management to serve as investment advisers and to create “blocked accounts” to hold all of her sister’s assets, according to The Blast. Jamie Lynn’s role as a trustee is reportedly meant to ensure that, upon Britney’s death, the entirety of her assets are transferred to the trust and devoted to caring for her children. So it’s unclear if this new request to reallocate her sister’s assets to these blocked accounts is meant to transpire now or at the time of her passing, The Blast notes. The outlet said this is the first time Jamie Lynn’s name has ever been publicly connected to Britney’s conservatorship.
