Cardi B Gave Megan Thee Stallion a “WAP”-Themed Birkin

Cardi B is just trying to make sure everyone she works with has as many Birkin bags as her two-year-old daughter.

To celebrate their new single “WAP” becoming the first female rap collaboration in history to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the rapper sent her collaborator Megan Thee Stallion a custom “WAP”-themed Hermès Birkin bag as a little thank you gift. Megan posted a video of herself unboxing the new orange purse on her Instagram, saying, “I know you fuckin’ lyin’, girl! Bitch! Not the Birkin! Not the Houston Birkin! Wow, I’m dead.” Similar Birkin bags, minus the custom paint job, often retail on resale sites for around $27.000.

The front of the hand-painted purse features a scene from the song’s music video in which Megan wears a white-and-black tiger striped leotard next to the real-life animal accented with huge water droplets. The back of the bag says “Be Someone” over a city skyline and the sides are decorated with multicolored dollar signs and hearts. “My manager just walked in and said cardi sent you something not the birkinnnnnnnn,” the rapper wrote in the caption of the Instagram video adding crying emojis. “Thank you frennn omg I can’t believe you I wonder what I’m gonna get her.”

Cardi also added a personal message to her friend across the bottom of the bag, writing, “Thank you Meg, really appreciate you,” signing it with a heart and Cardi B 2020.

After the music video was released on August 7, the song was streamed over 93 million times in the first week, which is more than any track in history, according to Billboard. The track also inspired it’s own TikTok challenge involving high kicks, drop splits, and twerking, while drawing critiques from CeeLo Green, Russell Brand, and conservatives nationwide. All in a day’s work for two of the biggest female rappers in the game.
