Huey, St. Louis Rapper of “Pop, Lock & Drop It,” Shot Dead

Huey, the St. Louis rapper best known for his debut single “Pop, Lock & Drop It,” has been killed in a shooting, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and KTVI report. The shooting reportedly occurred last night (June 25). Huey was reportedly taking to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Huey released “Pop, Lock & Drop It” in 2006 via Jive Records. The single peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 2007. That same month, Huey released his studio debut Notebook Paper, which included guest spots from T-Pain, Yo Gotti, Lloyd, Trey Songz, and Mario, among others. Huey’s output slowed in the ensuing years. He released Redemption in 2010, said he signed with Waka Flocka Flame’s Brick Squad Monopoly in 2013, and shared the Project H mixtape in 2014.
