After almost four months of quarantine, it makes sense that as hot spots like New York City and Los Angeles move into Phase 2 and Phase 3 of reopening, respectively, everyone’s looking for new ways to blow off a little steam.
And if you’re a celebrity, it seems that steam is taking the form of eating at Nobu every night and bleaching your hair.
Kaia Gerber kicked off the trend this week, switching up her signature brown for a white blonde lob. Over the past few weeks, the model has been subtly lightening her hair with highlights, but on Monday she revealed a whole new bleached-out look while visiting her dad Rande Gerber‘s restaurant, Cafe Habana, in Malibu.
Another classic brunette, model Emily Ratajkowski, followed Gerber’s lead on Tuesday, ditching her usual chestnut hue for a multi-dimensional buttery blonde. She broke the news on her Instagram via a selfie with the straight-to-the-point caption, “BLONDE.” This hair change also came with a paycheck, as Ratajkowski announced she will serve as the face of haircare brand Kérastase’s Blond Absolu collection.
Kylie Jenner also made her blonde bombshell debut on Tuesday, showing off her new, super sleek, yellow-blonde tresses in her natural habitat: a lingerie-clad selfie. In the shot, the reality star models a $1,100 sheer Gucci bra and full face of contour, enigmatically resting her fingertips atop her ears while serving Legolas realness.
Peroxiding your hair is clearly gearing up to be the big beauty trend of the summer, but the question of just how much more fun it is remains.
