Leonardo DiCaprio and His Girlfriend Have Been Making Quarantine Work for Them

It was mere days ago that we learned Leonardo DiCaprio boarded a yacht with his young girlfriend, Camila Morrone, for her birthday. But what do mere days matter in a lifetime of Leo boarding a yacht with his young girlfriend? Come pandemic, come national reckoning, it’s what he does. It’s what he’s always done.

And that’s how we know Leo. That’s what we expect. Yachts multiple times a year. A clean suit and tan here, cargo shorts and a vape there. An Oscars appearance in February, a gala against climate change over the summer. An occasional drop in at the updated renderings of his youthful haunts—he goes Up&Down 1 OAK Avenue, if you will.

What we do not expect is that he’s ready to settle down. We do not expect that he’s getting too terribly cozy in whatever relationship he’s in. But listen, People had a single anonymous source describe how nice his relationship is going, now a couple years into it. “He is usually very independent, spends lots of time with friends, but because of the lockdown, he has mostly spent time with Camila,” the source told People. “He loves being with her.”

“They are very close,” this person added. He seems “serious” about Morrone. “Leo has spent 24/7 with Camila for months at his house.”

I suppose there are no promises in here that he’s settling down here. The source is just saying that one of the side effects of COVID-19 lockdown doesn’t have to be tiring of one’s partner. I suppose having a yacht, one on which you can breathe nice air once in a while, helps. No children too. But if this is a relationship test—what with no clubs open, and no events, Oscars or otherwise, to schmooze around—early results are good! Will the Leo we knew be the Leo we know in the near future? Who knows! Sometimes people surprise us.
