Isometric Horror Arrives in ‘SKYHILL: Black Mist’ This Week

While the idea of Survival Horror has largely been from a close third or first-person view, Mandragora’s upcoming SKYHILL: Black Mist aims to do it a little differently when it launches for Steam on May 28. While taking on an isometric view from above might not be as tension-filled if the camera were up close and personal, the view from above can be just as terrifying.

In SKYHILL:Black Mist, you awaken inside a huge condominium built by Skyhill Inc. – a bio-tech corporation that controls your city, but has its fair share of shadiness. You, being one of Skyhill’s employees, were granted an apartment and just moved in. Not long after, your daughter was kidnapped, and the whole building is suddenly overrun by dark monsters and cultists that have taken a keen interest in you. Not only do you have to save your family, but at the same time, you’re chased by a mysterious black mist that changes people into something otherworldly.

SKYHILL allows you to explore the condominium complex in a non-linear fashion, which also happens to include hotspots such as a school, shopping center, the cinema, an underground parking space and more. But don’t explore too much, as you’ve been infected with the black mist, and must constantly have to search for medicine to sustain yourself.

Of course, you can always take out your frustrations on enemies, but it might also be appropriate to use stealth to bypass them entirely. Or, you could be clever and lure them into traps.
