“A New Era”: Producer Hints That ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Will Not Be the End of the Franchise

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ended with an all-time great sequel tease, offering the promise that the next movie – which we now know is titled Jurassic World: Dominion – will be taking place in a world where the dinosaurs have been completely unleashed into *our* world for the first time, off the island and spilling directly into our backyards – totally uncontained.

We’ve been operating under the assumption that Dominion may be the final chapter of the saga, but new comments from producer Frank Marshall suggest it’s only the beginning. Echoing comments made by Dr. Ian Malcolm in the closing moments of Fallen Kingdom, Marshall teases to Collider that Dominion will start “a new era” for the franchise.

It’s the start of a new era,” Marshall told the site this week. “The dinosaurs are now on the mainland amongst us, and they will be for quite some time, I hope.”

Of course, the future of the franchise beyond-Dominion will depend on the box office performance of Dominion. And if it’s another smash hit, you can bet it sure won’t be the end.

Colin Trevorrow is directing Dominion, with the production currently on hold due to the pandemic. The film’s current release date is June 11, 2021, but that could change.

The cast includes familiar and new faces such as Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Dichen Lachman, Mamoudou AthieDeWanda Wise and Scott Haze.
