Jack Into Cyberpunk Adventure Game ‘VirtuaVerse’ on Steam Today

Adventure games seem to have risen from the dead in recent years, and why not? For those who love the idea of being immersed in the lore and characters of the game’s world, there’s plenty to choose from. One such game (especially if you’re looking into cyberpunk) is Blood Music and Theta Division’s VirtuaVerse, which just hit Steam and GOG.com earlier this week.

Set against a neon backdrop in the not-too-distant future, VirtuaVerse‘s society is migrating to a permanently-integrated reality connected to a single neural network, continuously optimizing user experience by processing personal data.

You are Nathan, an outsider who makes a living as a smuggler of modded hardware and cracked software. Nathan is among the few that can switch Augmented Virtual Reality off and see the world for what it truly is. Nathan shares an apartment with his girlfriend, Jay, a graffiti artist whose drones bit-spray techno-color all over the city’s augmented space.

One morning, Nathan wakes to an empty apartment and discovers a cryptic message on the bathroom mirror. Having accidentally broken his headset, Nathan is disconnected but determined to figure out what happened to Jay.

Featuring music by MASTERBOOTRECORD, VirtuaVerse has Nathan traversing the world, encountering hardware graveyards, digital archaeology, tribes of cryptoshamans, and “virtual reality debauchery.”

If you’re a sucker for old-school adventure games, and with Cyberpunk 2077 is still a ways off, then VirtuaVerse definitely seems like a trip worth taking.
