Mary-Kate Olsen’s Divorce Filing Reportedly Involves an Emergency Court Order

Nearly five years after their wedding, replete with its alleged “bowls filled with cigarettes,” it seems that Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy are splitting up, if you trust the gumshoes at TMZ. According to the site, Olsen has filed an emergency order requesting to file a divorce, despite the closure of nonessential services at New York courts.

The outlet claims that Sarkozy emailed Olsen’s lawyers telling her to leave their Manhattan apartment by May 18. TMZ writes:

In the docs, obtained by TMZ, she says she can’t meet the deadline—this coming Monday—because of quarantine guidelines in the city. Mary-Kate says the only way she can protect her property is if she’s to file a divorce petition. That would trigger an automatic court order preventing him from disposing of her property.

The pair married in November 2015 after three years of dating. Sarkozy, 17 years her senior, is the half-brother of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy. Olsen’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Mary-Kate and her twin sister Ashley Olsen are famously press-shy and have shunned social media, so there’s no digital footprint to watch for signs of the potential dissolution of the relationship. Sarkozy was in attendance at the twins’ 33rd birthday party last summer, where they wore matching tiaras.
